England are off to Brazil for the World Cup. Yay…
I didn’t bother watching the game last night. I was tempted because I was at a loss for something to do, and I’ve recently sorted my sock drawer and gazed at an open tin of paint for 5 hours in a row. In the end, there was the pull of sitting in a darkened room and doing long multiplication in my head for the England game to contend with. The 3 Lions never stood a chance.
One alarming thing gleaned from the odd occasion of checking the score – out of pure curiosity – was the bizarre hyperbole that’s accompanying the performances of Andros Townsend. I struggle to see the appeal. Any player that shoots wildly into every area of the stadium apart from the goal 60 times in succession before doing something notable doesn’t strike me as someone worthy of adulation.
As it stands, there are no injury worries to report. All of our players appear to have come through qualification matches and friendlies unscathed. Mesut Ozil continued his form by scoring once and assisting once for Germany, and even played as the central striker at one point. Good news.
Elsewhere, an unusual type of rumour has appeared around the Arsenal online community. Allegedly, Arsene is on the look for more midfielders. Bloody peculiar, that is. Surely, with the plethora of talent we have available in that area, Arsene wouldn’t be hotly pursuing more when other areas of the pitch have greater priority.
Often I have a read through all the speculation for sheer amusement alone. It’s quite funny to imagine how those responsible have come up with what they’ve published.
- “Arsenal linked with….”
-“Oh, f**k it. Put any old name in there. They’ll click on the link if it says Julian Clary”
- “Julian Clary linked with move to Arsenal in January?”
- “Yeah, that’ll work. Add the words ‘huge’ or ‘shock’ to the word ‘bid’, make it vague and create a ‘source’ that’s reporting the news. Soon, we’ll be raking in the sponsorship money!”
Of course, dear reader, by speaking of such thing, I’m giving them the publicity that they don’t deserve. It’s a harsh world us bloggers have to contend with these days. You can’t rely on good content – not me – to gain hits these days. If you wish for a degree of fame of a large readership, you have to either whore your posts out in the most egregious manner, or hook in the reader with news of superstars moving to Arsenal. It’s really that simple; you either get on board or try to struggle on in the forgotten corners of the Internet.
That’s where I reside. Far from famous or well known, some distance from an enormous readership. It’s quite nice here, typing away saying whatever I want without having to suffer the consequences of angry sponsors. I can rattle away until my little heart is content. Very much like I’m doing now with this post…
And I know that there are somewhere in the region of 25 of you that come here reguarly. I wouldn’t trade you folks for all the hits in the world.
That’s all for today. i shall try to talk more about Arsenal matters soon as Arsenal matters are returning now all that international dirge is gone for a while. Until tomorrow, why not fire in some comments for me to read.
As always, thanks for reading, you beautiful bastards.
