Arsenal’s starting XI for the North London derby.

FA Premiership; Saturday Nov 17th, Spurs (h)

Morning folks.

Everything goes out the window today. League form, squad depth, ability, style of play; scrunch it all up into a neat ball and propel in through the nearest availble opening with all the force you can muster. The North London derby is here.

There are some slight concerns on the team front for Arsenal. Giroud, Walcott and Arteta are not certainties to play having picked up slight knocks during the week, and they will undergo fitness evaluations before the big kick off – all 3 should come through without any trouble. Szczsney should also be available for selection.

We can count out the usual list of absentees – Diaby, Rosicky, Gibbs, Gervinho – but Jack Wilshere is back from serving his domestic suspension, and he should be raring to go having only played 25 minutes for England during the week.

With all the recent talk of formation changes, I did wonder wether Arsene would opt for 3-5-2, but given the game’s importance, I doubt he’ll implement a change today – perhaps we’ll see it soon if we have another defensive nightmare.

Assuming the 4 players I mentioned come through their tests, I imagine Arsenal will line up like this:

With all the supporter unrest and disharmony about at present, there is no better tonic than giving our grubby neighbours a good hammering. Both sides currently languish in the mediocrity of mid-table, and a win would send the other a few points clear.

I hate losing to Spurs. I really want us to put aside all the recent failings and go and give a good account of ourselves. Arsenal can perform much better than they have. The ability is there amongst the squad, what we perhaps lack is motivation and focus. If the players adopt both of those into their play, then I am confident of winning today.

However, recent results have shown us Arsenal are capable of going to pieces at a moments notice, I suspect Spurs will be buoyed by that fact. They’ll fancy their chances today.

I’m going for a 2-0 win to the Arsenal, but in reality, the scoreline could be anything – 7-6 to Arsenal wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

That’s all for today, folks. What are your predictions? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading today, you beautiful bastards.
