Unscathed Dutchmen, Abhorrent national teams and Cameron Diaz’s use of the ‘C’ word.

Greetings!! To one, to all, I extend the fairest of morning wishes.

Did you cast your peepers over the England game last night? Did you sit there in the dark, clutching a pillow and hiding behind the sofa every time ‘Scotty’ Parker shambled within 6 feet of Robin van Persie?

I didn’t.

Why? I hear you collectively howl. That’s simply answered thusly; I didn’t watch it because I couldn’t be bothered. Instead, I decided to watch ‘Bad Teacher’. That might seem like a strange admission given this is a football blog that claims to report football news, but I will defend my actions with a simple question; who wouldn’t rather watch Cameron Diaz performing an erotic carwash and calling someone a “cunt”, over 90 minutes of pointless non-Arsenal football that involved listening to Andy Townsend spewing drivel into a co-commentator’s microphone?

Exactly. No sane human being would.

Robin van Persie was involved, and with the news that emerged he’d play with a groin injury , I was thoroughly delighted to read on Twitter he had only played the first 45 minutes. In fact, as far as I know (touch wood) none of the Arsenal players involved last night suffered any major ailments.

There were a few Arsenal players on the scoresheet for there respective countries; The Ox and Henri Lansbury scored for the U21s – the latter netting the kind of strike that would have Alan Partridge exclaiming “‘THRIIIIKER!!’ – and Joel Campbell was on target as Costa Rica beat Wales (That game had a point; Gary Speed’s remembrance).

Other than, it way mainly a day of few Arsenal stories of any note. There’s a very flimsy story doing about Walter Samuel joining a London club doing the rounds, but it’s a stupid one. I don’t think a 33-year-old centre back who’d be unaccustomed to the speed of English football would be a wise investment. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good player, but I think we could do better if we wish to strengthen that area of the team.

And that’s about it. Boring, huh? I’m going to cut today’s post short. I’m dusting off my clubs and off to play a round of Golf this morning. It probably won’t be pretty. Thanks for reading, you beautiful bastards. Leave a comment below and follow my Twitter account @_ArmchairGooner.
