Afternoon, magnificent creatures.
The international break is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring.
In my pomp as a blogger, I’d submit content every day. Without fail. In retrospect, I have no idea how I managed to accomplish this as there just isn’t a great deal of note happening that’s related to Arsenal. Perhaps I’m just getting old and this is the blogging equivalent of trying to run similar to speeds to when you were 20 and ending up huffing, puffing and coming close to sh*tting yourself. Or maybe there was simply a great deal more happening back in the day. Or maybe the International break is so achingly f*cking dull, it just appears that way.
Irrespective of which notion holds the greater truth, here we are and I’m rambling quite wonderfully…
So, I though I’d cover the futures of Ozil and Sanchez as, since my glorious return, it’s not a subject I’ve given any time, mainly because I find it a bit annoying. I find all speculation annoying, but this is doubly so – primarily because it is something that should have been avoided by Arsenal. Allowing our two “biggest stars” to run their contracts down is poor management.
I’ll start with Sanchez. It’ll certainly sound controversial to some of you, but I’d have sold him in the summer. Allowing a player as talented as him to move to Manchester City isn’t something I’d say I’d want to happen in an ideal world, but I believe it was a mistake to keep him here. Alexis Sanchez does not want to be at Arsenal. I think we can all agree on that. Some say he’s a professional and he’ll perform in the shirt because football is everything to him, and I do believe that. But only to an extent.
Someone who want’s to be elsewhere probably won’t give 100% to their current team. Look at it like this; If any of you reading this had the opportunity to change your job to another workplace in which you’d earn more money and have a greater chance of success (it’s sh*t, but it is true), but it fell through at the last minute because your current workplace decided they couldn’t sell you without securing a replacement; would you commit everything you have to that cause? There’s no shame in admitting the answer to that would be “no”. .
I’m not saying Alexis won’t perform, because he probably will. A few key goals and he’ll win me back over. But I think we should have sold him. £70m for a player with 12 months on his contract is a preposterously good deal. It’s all the better when you consider he’ll leave for free next summer. He’s also a bit of a sourpuss at the best of times, so he could very when upset the dressing room when he slams into p*ssbaby overdrive
Mesut Ozil, on the other hand, I think will stay at Arsenal.
Why? Because I just do, that’s why…. I’d be lying if I said it’s a statement based on anything like information or past history. It is, my friends, purely a hunch. I think he’ll sign in the new year because he knows he’s actually got it pretty good at Arsenal. Either that, or Arsene Wenger is going to strategically move him away from the first team and Ozil will be the subject of a bid from Mourinho in January, which we’ll accept and he’ll suddenly start showing the form we’ve all dreamed of seeing at Old Trafford as he steers them towards another title… This, rather inevitably, leads to social media imploding upon itself and no one knowing quite what to do with themselves anymore. Maybe they’ll have to watch the games instead of filming themselves ‘reacting naturally’.
Anyway, on a far more chipper note, let’s all join hands and rejoice, as today is the birthday of my favourite Invincible, Gilberto Silva. Happy birthday!
Right, that’s all folks. Hit me up in the comments if you have any thoughts. I’ll be back soon.
As always; thanks for reading, you beautiful bastards.
