OMG! There’s like, like MAJOR transfer goss today…

Stories, stories, stories...

Tuesday morning is here. Hello to you all.

I’m still stuck on stupid time with all these bank holidays. It should be Thursday, or do I  mean Friday? Jesus, I’m so confused.

In football news, well, we’ve a veritable explosion of hot transfer news to flash our peepers at. I say ‘hot’, I mean tepid at best. Most of what I read is contrived dirge, but I’m going to report a few as I quite enjoy a bit of speculation. It’s all harmless.

Arjen Robben is not a human being that’s easily likeable. In fact; he’s an annoying tit who seems to have a severe problem with gravity. He is also an exceptionally gifted footballer. Reports out there are suggesting he’s the subject of a £10 million bid from Arsenal. A bid recommended by Robin van Persie. I’d have one or two mixed feelings here. He really is a shit, but he’d be useful bombing down our left and creating for RvP.

That’s one of the least likely ones, so it’s essentially an interesting point of discussion. If there’s a player out there you hate, but you begrudgingly admire – would you like them to sign for Arsenal if they’d improve the team?

The more likely stories are those floating around about Clint Dempsey of Fulham. He’s been in great form this year, and he’s banging in the goals. At 29, he’s not exactly a spring-chicken. There actually appears to be a lot of truth in this one. He’s not looking to sign a new contract with The Cottagers, so a move in the summer is very much a possibility. Whether or not we need him is another matter.

With Podolksi still completing medicals and ‘signing on’ as every week passes, the more my faith in that transfer’s completion dwindles. We need another striker, and one with a little experience to serve as a back-up to Robin. Granted, Dempsey isn’t the astonishing marquee signing many of use crave for, but he is an established professional who always puts in a shift, and he knows the Premiership and all its idiosyncrasies. He might not have the glamour, but he’s far from a bad bet. However, the alleged £10m price tag is bloody ludicrous.

The Mirror has joined in with the fabulously OTT rumours about Per Mertesacker. Without even the slightest hint at a reason for actually printed such shit, they’ve joined The People in claiming we’ll sell the German. Below is the article in its entirety:

Per Mertesacker has kicked his last ball in anger for Arsenal, according to a report.

The German defender, a £10million deadline-day capture last summer, is out for the season with an ankle injury and will be sold on once the season ends, the piece claims.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Ajax’s Jan Vertonghen, who plays alongside the Gunners’ Thomas Vermaelen for Belgium.

The pair were also team-mates at the Amsterdam club before Vermaelen’s move to the Emirates.

What piece is that then? Where’s this ‘report’ you’ve read? I don’t see anything other than made-up crap peddled by idiots. Why would we sell him? He’s hardly been a disastrous acquisition.

That’s all for today folks. Tomorrow brings the welcome treat of another Arsenal game, so I’ll be posting a preview of the trip to Wolves then.

Arsenal needs defensive depth, so sell Mertesacker makes no sense. Djourou is likely to start against Wolves with Kos out…Lord knows who will start against Wigan because Djourou will either get hurt or carded

How is £10 mil for Dempsey so ridiculous? I’d say that’s a very fair valuation considering his performances over the last 2 years.

These are laughable at best. I can give info that has been spread and logically makes sense.
    1) Podolski will sign
    2) a second striker will sign, Dempsey Giroud Suarez etc
    3) M’Vila if negotiations continue like they have been will sign
    4) Vertonghen is close to being done, the German will not be sold contrary to what the cocaine addicts at the Mirror think
    5) Arsenal have renewed and very serious interest in Marvin Martin
    6) AFC are considering bidding for McGregor the Rangers GK

Make what you will of it.

If you’re going to make claims like that, try backing them up.

Podolski and Vertonghen are justified on their own. A second striker is likely, no clue who whom. M’Vila is a player greatly admired, and is going through negotiations. AFC have interest in Marvin Martin, but we have interest in 2 billion other players. The bid for McGregor is speculation I dunno about. Is it justified enough?
