Szczesny calls for Gunners to move on.

Wise words from Szczesny

After the disappointment of the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, Wojciech Szczesny has called on his Arsenal teammates to move on from the loss and get their title charge back on track.

The Gunners’ failure to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table was made worse by the fact it was Robin van Persie’s smug head which sealed the win for David Moyes’ side.

With Manchester City and Chelsea both failing to take advantage of Arsenal’s defeat with losses of their own, it is the Gunners who head into the international break two points clear of the chasing pack, and Szczesny has insisted the defeat to United hasn’t dented their hopes of winning the league.

“Of course [we’re still in a good position]. The other teams dropped points this week as well, but it’s important for us to get back to winning ways as quickly as we can and make the difference at the top of the table bigger.”

While the defeat to United is definitely an unwanted bump in what has been a smooth road so far this Premier League season, it might yet prove to be a blessing in disguise for Arsene Wenger’s men.

This team look extremely capable of going all the way this season in the league but it’s definitely not going to be an easy ride. The Gunners might be tipped by many who bet on football to be right there in contention come the end of the season but there is a long time between now and then.

Next up for the Gunners will be a tough test against an in-form Southampton side at the Emirates after the international break.

While Arsenal fans will be confident of getting back to winning ways against the Saints, anything other than 100% focus from the team could well result in an upset – although the bet365 site points to a comfortable three points for the Gunners.
