This update is going to be a quick one.
If you’re an avid Tweeter, you’ll have probably been hit by the crippling disappointment of the recent spurious account attributed to our beloved king, Thierry Henry. I could go on endlessly about just how pitiful I find people who do such things, but that’s beside the point. This January, we could see another return of the real thiung.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Arsenal have given permission to Thierry for him to retain fitness at London Colney during the close season in America. During that time, it’s alleged he will badger and pester Arsene Wenger for another return to the club – for a similar duration to his previous loan spell.
We all love Thierry. I’d be giddy with excitement to see him again in an Arsenal shirt. The beginning of January was magical, and the moment he scored against Leeds was arguably the highlight of 2011/2012.
However, it does worry that his arrival might be something of a temporary fix. Giroud has started to show signs of real promise, and I expect him to grow into his new role with aplomb. One striker isn’t enough though. I can’t help but feel we are still light in that position, and a little healthy competition for places never hurt anyone.
That one point aside, I’m all in favour of seeing Thierry return. Who wouldn’t be?
Contracts have taken up the other news bits today. It’s reported that Theo will be offered a significant rise on the previous contract proposition the club put forward, and new deals will be handed to both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs.
Hopefully, all three will sign – although Gibbs’ injury record does make for a bumper increase to his pay seem a little dubious, but thats just me.
That’s all for today, folks. I shall return tomorrow with a look at the important Champions League game against Montpellier. Until then, use the comments to express your views. Would you be happy to see Thierry return and the three players sign new contracts? Let me know.
Thanks for reading, you beautiful bastards.
