Transferzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Draxler and More…

Draxler’s temperamental side wasn’t often seen….

Morning, folks.

Just a quick one today, as most of the news isn’t actually news… Well, it is news, but not new news, if you catch my drift. Yesterday was all about The FA Cup and given we’re in the 5th round already, I kept one eye on the results and didn’t really pay too much attention. The whole day I waited for the draw, only to realise that it’s being made today. Friday night football has really thrown me off.

With no matches to prepare for/review and Julian Draxler’s move to Arsenal being analysed in every way possible – I reckon it’s only a matter of time before Sky Sports employes a studio of pundits to review Arsene’s facial expressions in slow-motion – there really isn’t much in the way of Arsenal-related information and intrigue out there.

Dissecting gossip and rumour does get to me on the odd occasion. I’m funny like that – sometimes I really do hate the interminable speculation and constant stories. Other times, I’m prone to allowing myself to get a little swept away by it all and quietly fantasise about a shiny new striker being unveiled.  I guess most of you are the same in your own way.

As I’m rambling a little and I’m really tired, how about we all watch a video together? Sound good to you?

Check this out – a video of Draxler highlights made by Culann Davies.

Use the comments below to get really excited about the kid. I actually hadn’t really seem all that much of him up until recently – I think I saw him play once or twice for Schalke in Champions League games on English soil.  Whilst the video above is only highlights are far from comprehensive, you’d be hard pressed to deny that Draxler looks pretty damn good.

That’s all for today, folks. I’ll be back tomorrow with something a little more substantial than today. Until then, and as always; thanks for reading, you beautiful bastards.

Arsene Wenger after the Tottenham match on 1st September, the day before we signed Ozil:
I am not against spending money, but I want to add super quality to our squad. Tottenham got a lot of money for Bale, they have to invest it – I understand that. The need is different for us, we need one or two super players and we will try to add that. We have 24 more hours, so maybe we can surprise you. Maybe not – but I am confident.

Arsene Wenger after the Coventry match:
That again is an illusion. There is nothing happening, honestly no. We have no need on the flanks, we have Chamberlain coming back, we have many players on the flanks. Honestly, I told you in the last press conference, we don’t rule it out but at the moment I cannot announce anything to you.

So, maybe the real truth lies (see what I did there?) in what Wenger didn’t say.

He says: “We have no need on the flanks…” but you might read that as “…but we do need someone in the middle.”

We might wait for our January signing until we play against the Saints.

It seems United are about to spend some serious cash in this window – Cabaye might be their next addition.

Like I said before, and will say again, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed, and not get my hopes up. I hate to be heart-broken.

btw, what’s the deal with vermaelen’s injury? still no update on when he’s going to be back. while all the talk is on draxler, i think we’re still short in central defence with only vermaelen as the back up. while sagna can also fill in at CB, he’s better utilized as RB. so wenger probably should bring in a CB.

you never know with wenger anyways. remember, a few years back, popular demand was for a CB, and he signed arshavin instead. then last year, he brought monreal whose name was hardly mentioned in the press before he signed. so i’m hoping though not expecting a pleasant surprise from wenger.

@nijwn: I’m not sure about Vermaelen. From what I gather, he’s not far off a full return to the squad – if not back already.

Very true, sir. With Arsene you never know. In 5 days we will.

@abdul mohad: He’s got to actually sign-up first. Nothing certain until it’s on the official site.
