Wilshere, Giroud, striker in January? News, and other bits.

Can anyone name the Arsenal player on the right?

Morning, you sexually magnetic sons (or daughters) of guns.

Today, it’s the return of Jack Wilshere. Later on this evening, he’ll be setting out on to a pitch for the first time in 14 months. He’ll be playing for the U21s. It’s great to have him back. If you consider just how good he was during his first full season, if you consider that during that time he shared the same field as Fabregas, Xavi and Iniesta and looked as good as any of them; then it’s not just good to have a player of his calibre close to a return with the first team, it’s fucking spectacular.

I wish him well this evening, I hope he comes through unscathed and I look forward to his eventual return to the Arsenal line up.

One thing I wanted to touch on today – not literally – is Olivier Giroud, and, more to the point, the thunderous onslaught of abuse and discontent he’s been recieving from quite a few corners of the Arsenal community – WOW!!

Now, I’m sure we’d all have liked him to have had a better start, and it’s undoubtedly the case that he’s missed a few sitters – the Chelsea effort made me pepper my workplace with the kind of obscenities that would make seasoned sailors frown with disgust. But he has contributed in other areas, he offers us a focal point in attack and the work he does in that area creating space for our creative midfielders tends to go unnoticed. His Arsenal career has just started. Given time on the field I still believe he’ll get himself amongst the goals and prove a handful for anyone. It’s way too early to start dismissing him quite yet.

Other than those points, I’ve come across a few stories relating to us going all guns blazing for a new striker in January. I’m doubtful such a thing – if true – will be as a replacement for the aforementioned French striker, but to give us more strength in depth when those inevitable injuries occur. However, it does make for one of those discussions where we can wildly speculate who the targets might be? Some would say Llorente, others would say Demba Ba. The question I’d like to put out there is who would you choose? Let me know in the comments.

Just a quick one today, folks. Thanks for reading!

Ba, because I would like at least one striker who we know can hack it in the Prem. (Should have gotten Berb and/or Dempsey, but oh well)

Ba, he is used to the demands of the premier league, his first goal over the weekend made me green with envy.
