Ahead of us, there awaits a bleakness. A dark, murky chasm bereft of football. A chasm of emptiness. A chasm in which there is flicker of light and that light, seemingly an enterinty away, represents our next fixture away at Anfield to face Liverpool on March 4th. That’s an absurdly long time to wait for football with meaning.
During that time, the dastardly monster of speculation will try to interrupt our quest to the mountain of salvation (via the lake of supporter squabbles and the haunted forest of “f*ck sake, I can’t think of anything to write about”).
It’ll be an epic quest filled with danger, love-making, intrigue and sorcery. Some of you won’t make it to the other side.
Recently, I’ve seen some news around sites which feature news. ‘News sites’, if you will. Some of these sites speculate Monaco’s manager, the highly-rated Leonardo Jardim is practically salivating at the prospect of moving to Arsenal, Here’s what he said:
‘Well, I think that all managers and players want to coach and play at the highest level and, today, the Premier League is perhaps the biggest national league in Europe.
“Everyone would like the opportunity to coach here”
It’s pretty much your standard response these days; non committal and leaves a door open for the future without upsetting any of the hierarchy at Monaco. Most folks with even the slightest degree of rationality would see it as exactly that and nothing more.
Now, here’s how those sites of news report it:
“JARDIM MAKES HINT AT PREMIERSHIP MOVE”
“JARDIM SUGGESTS HE COULD MOVE TO ARSENAL AND GAZIDIS MOVEs THE CLUB TO DEF CON 1”
“ARSENE WENGER CURRENTLY IN UNOCCUPIED MOONBASE CIRCLING SATURN AS THE ARSENAL BOARD FIRE HIM INTO SPACE IN ORDER TO MAKE WAY FOR LEONARDO JARDIM ON THE BASIS OF A POINTLESS F*CKING ARTICLE THAT DOESN’T EVEN MENTION THE CLUB BY NAME”
You catch my drift.
My opinion of the unrest and lamentation of Arsene Wenger changes quite regularly. I’m very rarely of a certain persuasion all the time with out breaking or changing. I believe that’s very important, folks. You have to have an open mind. To use those thoroughly hideous acronyms/initialisms – I’m neither AKB or WOB, but I’m certainly capable of agreeing with both at certain times.
I love Arsene. Irrespective of how you feel now, it’s an impossibly to deny what he has given to Arsenal. The sense of entitlement and expectation was produced by the glory he gave us initially and I do think thats often a point that goes overlooked.
Whether he stays at the helm for a while yet or is replaced in the summer remains to be seen. A this stage, all the bombastic splurges of opinion will cloud everything, so it’s just a case of waiting and seeing. And trying not too get too wound up if the outcome isn’t as you’d hoped.
Elsewhere, across the globe of Arsenal news is this photo of what’s alleged to be our kit for next season:
As you can see, someone else ran the picture ‘exclusively’ – hence the splattering of credit across it. That aside, I’m not sure I like that collar. Seems a little incongruous, right?
To be honest, I think I’m past really being too worried what the kit looks like because I don’t tend to buy replica shirts anymore. Of course, you’d like something that nice and representative of our history, but other than that, I’m not especially bothered.
That’ll be all for today, folks. Hit me up below in the comments with your thoughts and views. I’ll be back soon with more. As always; thanks for reading, you beautiful bastards.
